چکیده
A component-oriented software system, i.BioMech (image-based biomechanical modeling) is proposed for generation of patient-specific finite element model. It applies a systematic software engineering approach to patient/subject-specific meshing and assignment of material properties. The prototype program is based on the component object model (COM), which enables ease of combination of existing mesh generation algorithms and material property assignment schemes, and incorporation of new ones. It also facilitates utilization by other programming languages or platforms. Data input comprises a series of medical images captured from the patient. The output is a patient-specific finite element model for computational analysis using commercially available finite element software. The prototype software system provides a framework to compare the different finite element mesh generation methods as well as schemes for material property assignment. Our focus is on patient/subject-specific modeling of the

A fast and robust patient specific Finite Element mesh registration technique: Application to 60 clinical cases
Finite Element mesh generation remains an important issue for patient specific biomechanical modeling. While some techniques make automatic mesh generation possible, in most cases, manual mesh generation is preferred for better control over the sub-domain representation, element type, layout and refinement that it provides. Yet, this option is time consuming and not suited for intraoperative si...
متن کاملStudying the Mechanical Behavior of Tissue in the Generation of Pressure Sores using Simulation and a Guinea Pig Experimental Model
Introduction: Pressure sores refer to lesions that are produced while a constant pressure causes necrotic tissue to grow. The need for a better comprehension of the process has led researchers to artificial generation of pressure sores. Modeling the mechanical behavior of tissue will provide a better understanding of this process as well as a more suitable selection ...

متن کاملThe axisymmetric computational study of a femoral component to analysis the effect of titanium alloy and diameter variation.
This work presents a numerical approach in order to predict the influence of implant material stiffness in a femoral component design when submitted in compression. The implant success depends on the transferred load to the neighboring bone. The finite element method can be used to analysis the stress and strain distribution in the femoral component allowing to improve the implant selection. Fo...
